Mehriz is the center of Mehriz city in Yazd province. Mehriz Bagh is a historical city of Yazd province and one of the two best cities in terms of climate in the province<\/p>

Denomination<\/p>

According to historical texts and manuscripts, Mehriz is derived from the name of Mehrangar, the daughter of Anoushirvan Sasani.<\/p>

According to the population and housing census in 2015, the population of this city was 34,237 people (10,344 households).<\/p>

    Mehriz has many spectacular mosques, the most famous of which is Mehrpadin Mosque.<\/p>

    This mosque is one of the buildings of the 8th century AH and has a dome, a porch, a nave and a minaret. Its minaret is built on the front of the mosque and is decorated with an inscription made of mosaic tiles.<\/p>

    According to the text of the inscription, this mosque was built in the beginning of the eighth century AH by Mahfouz bin Muhammad. This mosque is more than 900 years old and is one of the most valuable works left in this city. It has a dome, porch, portico, minaret, as well as summer and winter spaces with an area of 1,800 square meters.<\/p>

    Another historical monument of Mehriz is Sarizd Castle, which is one of the oldest and largest bank safe deposit boxes in Iran and the world during the Sassanid period, which was used to store food, money, gold, jewelry, etc. at that time.<\/p>

      Windshields, cellars, thick walls, vaulted ceilings, etc. are characteristic features in this field. On the other hand, simplicity in the style and type of architecture is one of the remarkable features of the architecture of the region, which is undoubtedly influenced by the type of materials used (clay and mud) and the influence of economic and cultural factors such as the contentment of the people of the region. Today, these features have created a suitable tool from the surrounding environment and fields of activity and have transformed and evolved the used tool in the direction of more needs, well-being and comfort. The replacement of modern devices and the comfort of life has led to the weakness of the function of various architectural elements, and to some extent, its construction has also undergone a transformation. These developments in new forms started from the dimming of the mechanism of dealing with the desert and continued by respecting the decorative aspects and relative complexity in the architectural style. The destruction of windbreaks, the height of buildings, the use of bricks instead of clay and mud, and changing the interior space of residences and following modern forms of house building are among them. This inevitable process has gradually deprived the architectural culture of the region of its outstanding capabilities of assimilation and adaptation to the environment and has created heterogeneous and dual textures in the biological space.
